Can I book just one night?
All cabin reservations require a two-night minimum stay. This gives you time to truly unwind and experience the North Shore — whether that’s a morning sauna, a sunset hike, or simply slowing down to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Do you sell gift certificates?
Yes! Wildernest Cabins offers customizable gift certificates for any dollar amount. They make perfect gifts for holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and special events nearby.
Are the cabins pet-friendly?
To protect the cabins, landscaping, and local wildlife, no pets are permitted on the property.
Are the cabins kid-friendly?
Wildernest Cabins is designed as an adult retreat with a maximum occupancy of two guests per cabin, regardless of age. While children are welcome, our property does feature several safety concerns for children including exposed sauna heaters, hot fireplaces, an open fire pit, and location on Scenic Highway 61. We do not provide specialized children’s items such as cribs or highchairs.

We’re perfectly positioned at the gateway to the natural wonders of the North Shore of Lake Superior, offering you an ideal blend of wilderness and accessibility. How many cabins are available?
We offer six intimate cabins, each carefully designed to accommodate two guests. While each cabin provides a secluded experience, our central pavilion area includes communal spaces perfect for gathering, featuring picnic tables, grill stations, and a community firepit.
Is there WiFi and cell service?
Yes! All cabins have reliable high-speed WiFi, perfect for working, streaming, or sharing your trip. Cell service depends on your carrier—most work fine, though T-Mobile can be spotty. Whether you want to stay connected or unplug, the choice is yours.
What should I bring?
Breakfast items, your favorite snacks, groceries, ice, sunscreen, bug spray, and layers (North Shore weather changes quickly).
What’s provided in the cabin?
• Duluth Coffee Co. pre-ground coffee packets, coffee filters, & coffee maker
• Tazo green tea, Tazo mint tea, & electric kettle
• Kitchenette with dishes, wine glasses, dishwasher, induction stovetop, cookware, toaster, refrigerator / freezer, sugar packets, salt and pepper.
• Linens, lots of towels, robes, hairdryer, Native shampoo, conditioner, and body wash
• Shared gas grill & cooking utensils
• Board games, cards, and lawn games
How far in advance can I book?
Individual cabins can be reserved up to 9 months in advance. If you’d like to book the entire property for a private event or group stay, reservations open 12 months in advance.
Are there TVs in the cabins?
We intentionally keep our cabins TV-free to encourage deeper connections—with nature, with each other, and with yourself. If you crave some screen time, feel free to bring a laptop or tablet to stream your favorite shows during downtime.
Is there heating and air conditioning?
Each cabin is equipped with a mini-split system for heating and cooling, supplemented by radiant heat for cold Minnesota winters and a two-sided gas fireplace.
What kitchen facilities are provided?
Each cabin features a kitchenette with:
● Toaster
● Coffee maker
● Electric tea kettle
● Refrigerator & freezer
● 2 burner induction cook top
● Dishwasher
● Basic cookware and dishes
The shared pavilion features:
● Large gas grill
● Extra large granite counter top space
● Eight electric outlets
● Two large picnic tables
Is there designated parking?
Yes. Each cabin comes with dedicated parking space for up to two vehicles. We also offer two electrical vehicle charging stations on a first-come, first-served basis, supporting eco-friendly travel options.
Can I set up a tent or camper by my cabin?
To maintain the natural habitat and ensure a quality experience for all guests, camping is not permitted on our property.
When are the quiet hours?
10pm – 8am · Please respect fellow guests and our neighbors by keeping voices and music low.
Are the cabins wheelchair accessible?
We have one ADA accessible cabin. Please reach out via email to make specific inquiries about spaces and ADA-accessible lodging.
Is smoking allowed onsite?
Smoking is prohibited on the entire Wildernest Cabins property.
Is there direct access to Lake Superior from the property?
While Wildernest Cabins doesn’t have direct lake frontage, the nearby McQuade Small Craft Harbor provides excellent lake access just a short walk from our property. This public facility includes a boat launch, kayak ramp, restrooms, shelter, fishing platforms, and a paved walkway with a tunnel to the east breakwall. We welcome guests to bring smaller watercrafts like kayaks and canoes, which can be stored behind the pavilion or at your cabin.
Can I rent the entire Wildernest Cabins property for a private group?
Absolutely! We offer the unique opportunity to book our entire property for a truly exclusive experience. When you rent the full property, you’ll have exclusive access to:
● All six cabins
● Communal gathering spaces at central pavilion
● Private, woodland setting
What is the maximum group size for a full property rental?
Our property is designed to accommodate up to 12 guests total (2 guests per cabin). We prioritize an intimate, connected experience that allows groups to enjoy nature and each other’s company.
To ensure a peaceful and respectful environment for all:
● No large parties or events are permitted
● Additional visitors or day guests require prior approval
● Quiet hours are observed from 10 PM to 8 AM
